Contact-Free Tabs

Show the same data to all logged-in customers, regardless of their contact.

By default, every tab in eg2 filters rows by the logged-in customer’s contact — each customer sees only their own rows. A contact-free tab removes this filter: every row from the sheet is shown to every authenticated customer.

When to Use a Contact-Free Tab

Contact-free tabs are useful for data that’s the same for everyone:

  • A shared price list or product catalogue
  • Company announcements or news
  • Terms and conditions
  • A reference table customers need while viewing their own data

Contact-free tabs are still behind the OTP login — customers must authenticate to see them. The difference is that once logged in, all customers see the same content.

Setting Up a Contact-Free Tab

  1. In the portal editor, open the tab you want to make contact-free.
  2. Under Tab Options, enable Contact-Free.
  3. Configure visible columns, display labels, and direction as usual.
  4. Click Save.

You do not need to set a contact (identifier) column for a contact-free tab — there’s no per-customer filtering to configure.

Notes

  • Contact-Free and Child Only are mutually exclusive. A tab can be one or the other, not both.
  • The tab appears in the portal’s main navigation alongside regular filtered tabs.
  • All column visibility and renaming settings still apply — you can hide columns you don’t want customers to see, just like any other tab.
  • If you later turn off Contact-Free on a tab, remember to configure a contact column for it before saving, so eg2 knows which rows to show to each customer.
