Getting Started with eg2

Learn how to set up your first customer portal in under 10 minutes — no code required.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • An Excel file or Google Sheet with your customer data already in it
  • A column that identifies each customer — their email address

Step 1: Connect Your File

  1. Log in to the admin panel at admin.eg2.app.
  2. Click New Portal in the top-right corner.
  3. In the File ID field, paste your file’s ID (visible in its URL).
  4. Open your file, click Share, and add eg2’s special email address as a Viewer.
This address is shown in the admin panel on the connection screen.
  5. Click Connect. eg2 verifies access and lists all tabs from your file.

Step 2: Configure the Portal

Once connected, you’ll see your file’s tabs listed in the portal editor.

  1. Select which tabs to show — check the tabs you want customers to see. You can expose one or more.
  2. Choose the identifier column — pick the column that contains each customer’s email address. eg2 uses this to filter rows so that every customer sees only their own data.
  3. Set the display direction — choose LTR (left-to-right) or RTL (right-to-left) for each tab independently.
  4. Optionally:
    • Hide columns you don’t want customers to see (internal notes, pricing, IDs).
    • Rename column headers to use customer-friendly labels instead of your internal names.

Click Save when you’re done.

Your portal is now live. Each portal has its own web address based on its name:

https://SLUG.eg2.app

Share this address with your customers however you normally communicate with them — email, WhatsApp, your website, or anywhere else.

How customers log in:

  1. They open the link and enter their email address.
  2. eg2 sends them a 6-digit one-time code by email.
  3. They enter the code and immediately see only the rows that belong to them — nothing else.

No accounts. No passwords. No app to install.

What’s Next

Now that your first portal is live, here are a few things worth exploring:

  • Upload your logo and set brand colors — in the portal settings, you can make the portal look like it’s fully yours. Customers never see the eg2 brand.
  • Add more tabs — expose additional sheets from the same file as separate tabs inside the portal.
